Leadership vacuum killing Owan West APC, Reps Aspirant

Mr. Christopher Ojo, All Progressives Congress Aspirant for the House of Representatives, have raised the alarm that leadership vacuum may cause the party 2023 general elections in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State except something urgent is done.

Ojo who raised the alarm in a statement to newsmen, stressed that the leadership vacuum have been responsible for the unnecessary bickering and acrimony among the party Faithfuls in the council area.

Ojo who is eyeing the Owan Federal Constituency seat in the National Assembly (NASS), feared that the gap created by the leadership vacuum in terms of organization in Owan West, would make it difficult for the APC to emerge victorious in any elections.

He particularly noted that the vacuum has been responsible for the party to present its candidate for the now postponed Local Government elections in the State.

“It is a shame that those that are supposed to galvanize the people have failed in their responsibilities and this have placed the party in a precarious position going into the 2023 General elections.

“As I speak, everybody has assumed leadership position in Owan West because of failure of those that have been saddled with the responsibility.

“Why I decided to speak on this is because of recent events in the area. While our sister council and others have settled for candidates in the now postponed council poll, Owan West own have been riddled with crisis because of absence of a rallying point.

“I dare ask, if we are going into a mere council election as a disorganized entity, how then do we win the election knowing fully well that we are in the opposition.

“Again, the 2023 general elections are at hand, there is need for us to go into the poll as a united body and not the present situation we have at hand in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo.

“You will recall that the same leadership problem caused us the loss of the 2020 governorship election in Owan West that have always been for the APC.

“I just hope the leadership of the party at the state and national levels will heed my call and proffer urgent solution to address the challenge,” Ojo stated.
